About Eigashima Shuzo

Located in Akashi, a seaside town near Kobe, Eigashima Shuzo is one of Japan’s oldest whisky distilleries. Celebrated for brewing saké since the Edo period, they first obtained their distilling license in 1919. Eigashima Shuzo proudly respects classic traditions and culture while innovating with constant new developments.

On the Eigashima Shuzo grounds at their White Oak facility, there are seven wooden kura buildings, each with a different role. Some kura are built to ensure constant storage and aging, while some are ideal for fermentation. The thick walls of the kura with only a few windows can keep the temperature constant inside, thus creating the perfect environment for distilling.

Production is limited to ensure quality and production only occurs one month a year from only select, premium malts and barley. Eigashima Shuzo whisky tells the story of celebrating traditions in a truly elite whisky.
